Pork Chops with Apples and Beans
These flavors go great together. Classic combination.
Ingredients
- pork chops, 4 oz per person
- salt/pepper or creole seasoning
- oil or butter
- cinnamon
- apples, 4 large
- green beans, 1 lb
Preparation
- Preheat a pan with a lid on medium high heat. Season your pork chops with salt and pepper, or some creole seasoning, put a tablespoon of cooking oil in the hot pan, and sear the pork chops. Let them sear til crisp and slightly browned, then turn them over
- Peel and cut apples, fry in butter (or oil), then cover and let them steam in their own juices on low heat while the pork chops cook.
- In the meantime, put an inch of salted water into a sauce pan, boil it, and toss in the washed/snapped green beans and cover. These will cook in just about 3-5 minutes like this, so do this right before serving time.
- If you're feeling particularly indulgent, whip up a batch of biscuits or cornbread to accompany this meal.
- (* To keep this a lower carb meal, go light on the cooked apples. About a 1/2 c. serving will be roughly a carb serving, aka 15 g. carbs.)
